THE SCHOOL OF CONNECTION
Curiosity is one of my super-powers, and small talk is the bane of my existence. I'm fascinated by people and what makes all of us tick. I love our stories, our uniqueness, and our unexpected commonalities. We are all so beautiful when we take the time to discover it. I’m a Certified Professional Coach, I study neuroscience for fun, and I have deep-dive conversations with random strangers. I seem to have been born with a gift of being able to connect deeply with others, and my one-of-a-kind journey, "100 Conversations with Strangers" has given me fresh insights into what creates and hinders our sense of connection. I hear over and over that people are yearning for deeper connections and a sense of belonging. They want to be seen and heard, and to tear down many of the defensive and superficial barriers that stand between us. We're becoming increasingly isolated, lonely and disconnected in life and work. Online we're often in our own virtual gated communities. I'm here to show you how to create more meaningful and satisfying connections, and to create a culture of 'connections first'. We desperately need more of it everywhere. It makes us healthy, happy, and productive. Our humanity has yet to evolve to the highest levels possible - the potential is there and connection is the springboard. So let's do this.
Connection makes the difference
“Connections bond us together. If you can deliver on that, you have a tremendous edge over everybody else.”
“You have to be excellent at making your people feel cared for. That is ultimately what’s going to affect your bottom line.”
“Consumers are much savvier and much more cynical today, so if a business can establish a true connection with me, I’m going to want to continue doing business with them.”
“Connections and empathy are the new currency. The business and consumer landscape has changed.”

We’re going to talk about presumptions, bias, figuring out your path when you have many interests, and how Elizabeth McCoy helps returning citizens – which is the updated term for ex-felons. Jan Keck is all about being curious, brave, and vulnerable in order to create more meaningful conversations. Many people I talk to about ‘connection’ don’t seem to fully understand how important it is or why – until I bring it to their attention. We can’t measure it, and we don’t have some sort of gauge for ‘connection’ that tells us when we’re high, or when we’re getting low. So most people don’t […]Read More
The inspiration hit me just now, this morning, and so I’ve decided that every now and then I’ll share reasons that we should all care about connection. Connection – in any realm, in any context, will be covered. So here goes. #1 We should care about connection because it makes us the best humans we […]Read More
